Bayanihan Caring Network

June 28, 2013

I know that there are some of you wondering… “What is this word ‘Bayanihan,’ and how is it pronounced?” Well… from an English speaking perspective, the a’s sound like short o’s and the i sounds like a long e. 🙂 But what really matters is what it means… Bayanihan is a Filipino term taken from the word bayan, referring to a nation, country, town, or community. The whole term bayanihan refers to a spirit of communal unity or effort to achieve a particular objective. (Thank you wikipedia. :)) The community we are speaking of is the community of believers, Jesus followers, the body of Christ. As a part of this Spirit led community, we are uniting as one to fulfill our objective… the great commission… “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” Matthew 28:19. We are so honored to be serving with you and Jesus History Makers Ministries. Together we are rearing up the next generation to be, not only believers, but leaders. God has called and conditioned our hearts to disciple this generation for His glory, honor, and praise.  He has provided and united us with a number of youth who have found and accepted Jesus as their Savior. Like newborn babies, they cannot be left without nourishment. “Like newborn babies, crave spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation” 1Peter 2:2. God has called us to make disciples and we are taking Him at His word. When new believers are discipled, they are transformed, and in-turn devote their lives to the One who makes it worth living. Those who are discipled become disciplers. Cycles are broken and generations are revived, returning to their first love.

We have been and continue to pray for God’s guidance, wisdom and plan.  Just last week God blessed the Bayanihan Caring Network…  A house opened up two spaces down from where we are currently living, with an attached apartment and its own bathroom and kitchen.  The extra apartment is large enough to house 6 to 8 young people and we ceased the opportunity laid before us.  Plus it was pretty cool how God worked it all out… Our house had a major plumbing issue.  The water came up from a drain in the floor and smelled awful.  After John tried several ways at fixing the problem, it persisted, and we spent a few days having to wash the dishes outside.  The owner of the home said she may have to dig up the septic system and suggested that we move to her other rent space, which had just become available.  She usually rented it for more money, but she would give to us for the same price… 🙂  In one day, we uprooted again and moved in…  We have set up a growing library of resources, complete with Bibles in Ilocano, Tagalog, and English.  Through donated blessings, we have Basic Theology, Systematic Theology, Bible Commentaries, Strongs’s, Devotionals, Ilustrated Children’s Bibles and stories, The Five Love Languages, reading books such as Crazy Love, Radical, Mere Christianity, and many more… We also have a wide variety of Christian movies for viewing.  There is a printing and study area.  We are so blessed to have one Bayanihan recipient benefitting from the program thus far, living in the apartment… joining us at the outreaches, dayly Bible studies and even leading some.  We cannot wait to see whom God opens the door to next for us to love and disciple… to help him find his way out of situations of extreme poverty and to a life in tune with God.  Together we can strengthen the body of believers by building up Christian leaders. We are praying for people like you to help support and be blessed by being a blessing to a young person in need. We are here.  We have the resources.  We need you… Proverbs 19:17 He who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward him for what he has done. Contact us today if you want to be a part of this wonderful opportunity and blessing. If you would like to adopt a child we will provide pictures and progress reports of the candidate or candidates. You can even have visual contact via Facebook or Skype. You can get to know him or her and pray together. Even your Church, Sunday school, or small groups could take on this opportunity and blessing together.  United we can make a difference and share God’s Love.IMG_20130626_115828
